Intellectual Freedom
On June 12, 2023, the Illinois General Assembly passed Public Act 103-100 (“Act”) to encourage and protect the freedom of libraries and library systems to acquire materials without external limitation and to be protected against attempts to ban, remove, or otherwise restrict access to books or other materials. The Maywood Library Board of Directors supports in full the precepts of the American Library Association’s Freedom to Read Statement, Freedom to View Statement, and Library Bill of Rights, and has adopted the above documents as policy.
